Lace is all the rage...

You can't go into any store and NOT see lace right now! I'm not complaining... I love it. Last year Joie had a dress from The Children's Place that was a favorite. I bought it for Easter, but she wore it well into the summer and beyond. Just a month or so ago I finally hid it in her closet with the too-small clothes. Here she is in the dress:

Everywhere we go.... 

People stop my daughter and I and ask where I got her outfit. There are a few things that go into her unique & adorable outfits: 

• Her AMAZING sense of style. This child has been dressing herself since she was two. Each of my children has their own definite style, but hers is by far the most... HER. She mixes prints, she layers like there is no tomorrow and best of all, she couldn't care less what anyone else is wearing. Wellllll.... let me clarify; she has come home from preschool on numerous occasions and described another child's outfit down to the socks- But it she doesn't try to replicate exact looks. She takes what makes her happiest from the outfit and makes it her own. As far as she's concerned there are no fashion rules- just what she likes. 
• I scour flash sale sites, regular websites, thrift stores, regular stores and EVERYwhere for clothes. We are both big on classics, like cardigans. She has one in just about every color. She wears them a lot. Another classic she wears like crazy is a denim vest from H&M. I'm scared for when she outgrows that, actually. 
• I sew. If we can't find something there is a high probability that Mommy can make it. 

My plan for this blog is to share some of my daughter's outfits, but also to let you in on our shopping secrets, sales and trends. I'm looking forward to a fun Mother-Daughter blog that maybe she'll take over some years down the road (kids these days... it might be next year! lol) 

What this website will NOT be is an homage to one brand. We will pull clothes from EVERYWHERE to make the best outifts. Cardigan from Walmart? Sure! Boots from Payless? Of course. Sale-priced dress from Nordstrom? Um, yeah... that's a no brainer. There will be fashion splurges from time-to-time, as is appropriate for all wardrobes. It's not all about the unapproachable, overpriced, over-the-top looks I see on some of the other children's fashion blogs. This is about comfort, looking like a kid and having fun.
